Hyundai builds the new Ioniq 3 in Izmir (Türkiye) from 2026

Hyundai becomes the new Ioniq 3 Finquate in Turkey from 2026 - announced on the IAA Mobility and confirmed by Hyundai Türkiye. This decision makes Turkey the important location for Hyundais European strategy.

Production & location
It is produced at the Izmit (Kocaeli) plant, which currently has around 245,000 vehicles annual capacity; For the conversion to e-production, a reduced utilization was temporarily expected. The main markets of Great Britain, Germany and France are to be supplied by Izmit.

Technology & platform
The IONIQ 3 is based on the E-GMP platform (Electric Global Modular Platform), which enables flexible electrical architectures for compact to larger vehicles. Hyundai thus emphasizes scale advantages for various construction and performance classes.

Market strategy & meaning
Hyundai sees a growing EV market in Turkey: the electrical quote recently increased significantly, charging infrastructure and secondary market grow. With local production, Hyundai wants to tighten and ensure Europe -wide supply capacities - Turkey would thus become an important pillar of the electrification strategy.

Brief evaluation
The decision is strategic: Local production for Europe can improve costs, logistics and CO₂ balance sheet and strengthens Hyundai's position in the growing European e-market. At the same time, it remains to be seen how quickly the production conversion will be implemented and which models run out of the assembly line.
