A new study by the RWTH Aachen In cooperation with The Mobility House Energy shows: Immediate shop is significantly more harmful to the lifespan of e-car batteries than Intelligent shop (V1G) or Vehicle-to-grid (V2G).
The researchers: Inside, three charging strategies on various cell types from the market:
-
Immediate charging (Immediate shop)
-
Intelligent shop (V1G)
-
Bidirectional shop (V2G)
Results: Intelligent shops protect the battery
In the immediate store, the battery is often loaded to 100 % and kept at this level for a long time - a state that significantly accelerates aging.
Advantages of V1G (intelligent charging):
-
After 10 years 3.3 to 6.8 percentage points less aging
-
Capacity gain: 1.8 to 3.6 kWh (Corresponds to approx. 11 to 22 km of additional range)
-
Additional proceeds: 200 to 400 euros per year Through optimized loading times
V2G: Additional proceeds with minimal additional pollution
At the Vehicle-to-grid-Principle feeds the vehicle back into the power grid and can thus contribute to network stabilization.
-
Additional aging: only 1.7 to 5.8 percentage points in 10 years
-
Capacity loss: 0.9 to 3.1 kWh (approx. 6 to 19 km range)
-
Additional proceeds: Over 600 euros per year
-
Simulated annual energy throughput: 4.7 MWh With a 52 kWh battery
The financial advantages thus significantly exceed the low losses in battery capacity.
Why immediate shop is problematic
-
Highest aging through a long time in the upper loading area
-
No income from network services
-
More stress for the power grid
Conclusion: intelligent charging and V2G as the future of electromobility
The study refutes the widespread concern that V2G the battery harms strongly. One is decisive Intelligent charging managementavoids the extreme loading states (0 % and 100 %).
According to Prof. Dr. Dirk Uwe Sauer (RWTH Aachen) are Intelligent shop and Vehicle-to-grid "Game Changer" - both for the Battery life duration as well as for a Sustainable energy supply.
