BYD B13.b Elektrobus bringt über 700 km Reichweite ins Intercity-Segment

With the new BYD B13.B Elektrobus If the Chinese manufacturer shows how far cell-to-chassis technology can go today: According to the Sort cycle, up to 560 kWh LFP battery in the underbody should enable "over 700 kilometers of range"-a real milestone for overland traffic in Europe.

More range thanks to Blade Battery Chassis
BYD integrates its blade-typical LFP structure battery directly into the chassis. As a result, the capacity increases by 54 kWh compared to the previous B13 to 560 kWh. If you have a little less energy requirement, you can use around 620 km for the 476 kWh variant. Both versions benefit from the extremely thin battery level, which creates space and lowers the focus.

Space for 78 passengers
The 13.2 meter long intercity bus has 49 comfortable seats and a total capacity of 78 passengers-eight more than its predecessor. The freedom interior results from the flat battery structure, which neither motor bridge nor the battery tunnel needs. Operators can thus transport more passengers or choose alternative seat configurations.

Powerful wheel hub engines
Two electric wheel hub engines, each with 150 kW, do the BYD B13.B Elektrobus and allow up to 100 km/h top - sufficient for cross -country routes and expressways. The 6-in-1-SIC controller bundles power electronics, on-board charger and drive control in a compact module, which reduces the total weight and increases efficiency.

Flexible charging options for everyday life
• DC quick shop with 192 kW one-sided
• Double-sided charging with two 192 kW connections
• Optional 500 kW pantographer charging for depot or intermediate loads

This bandwidth enables operators to recharge the bus during breaks or to maintain classic custodian concepts without having to wait for new infrastructure. High frequency lines can also be electrified economically.

Relevance for the European market
According to the EBUS B12, the B13.B is the second model that BYD brings to Europe with Blade Battery Chassis - the Uitp Summit was a premiere location in Hamburg. For German transport companies, this means a new option in the growing Intercity E segment, in which range and battery mass have so far been the greatest hurdles. With a sort range of over 700 km, many daily circuits can be covered without an intermediate load.

outlook
BYD plans to use the cell-to-chassis platform for future crossover and SUV buses. If the 560 KWH version in real line operations prove itself, we could see overland nets that drive completely emission-free by 2030-without compromise on the number of seats or clock frequency. The next benchmark for European manufacturers is set.
